inspiration: amy
ok. i think we would all agree. miss amy powers is one of the most adorable women one will meet. my sister and i had the total pleasure of spending time with amy at silver bella last november. what a treat!
karla and amy are pictured above...sharing a goody swap project.
so. earlier this month, amy shared a darling Easter egg project that i had to try. (the post was so easy to follow, you seriously need to check it out!) karla and i spent an hour getting messy, with lovely results...
now this is fun.
my principal gave me a jingle first thing this morning, letting me know that our
art teacher would be unavailable for our 8:15 class. so i decided to be the art teacher! and guess what we made!?!?!
amy's eggs!!!!
my fourth graders had a ball!
my art room is like a mini hobby lobby. i had everything on hand.
it was a great day!
miss amy, please keep the inspiration coming!
happy day!

day 28 and finally!
my heart is happy...my spring banner is hanging in all her glory.
now let me explain the lack of vibrant colors. i live in nebraska, a beautiful place. the sunsets - they're just gorgeous. the sky is so huge and every shade of blue imaginable. i really love life here. however, our spring seasons aren't very pretty. at least in the beginning. like right now. i have these lovely little violet crocuses (that sounds weird) blooming and they look perfectly ridiculous. there they are in the middle of a brown - BROWN - no sign of life flower bed. (i know there are many life lessons in this analogy, and that is wonderful.) they just look sad to me. lonely. out of place. so my spring banner didn't have much inspiration. but i still love it!
i shared the basic supplies yesterday.
flashcards
old pages from a book
kraft paper card stock
a printer
glue
twine
bird images optional
notch out the bottom of the flashcard - giving it a pennant look.
create accordion fold flowers. i used two sheets of papers torn from an old dictionary.
to assemble, i use big globs of glue, attach flower and let it sit.
i ran the dictionary pages through my printer, printing out the letters for this banner. this looks so cool and is so easy. you can totally create a banner for any occasion using this technique. after printing, cut out - i used the embroidery hoop i've been using on my stitching as a circle pattern. find a larger circle to trace onto the kraft paper cardstock and then cut with scalloped scissors. glue it all together...i use glue stick.
punch holes in the corners.
use ribbon or twine or - oh - so - many - things to hang in your home!
happy day!

day 21
so i added this number for reasons we just won't be discussing. :)
and i picked up these blooms at the local market just because.
here's a cute story.
the boys all went to a hockey game last nite, so the girls headed out for a girl party. my daughter, beatrice, and my niece, kitt, love to dress alike...so they wore their Easter dresses for special.
anyway, later, when beatrice was telling her daddy about the yummy food we enjoyed at the thai restaurant, she said we had lettuce burritos! aka: spring rolls!
happy day to you!

artful thursday and day 18
a pretty "He is Risen" gift box, centerpiece, or just a little lovely to add to your Easter or spring decor.
supplies include:
recycled game box
pretty papers
flower frog
postcard - color copied
trim
ruffled crepe paper
little flowers
small piece of matboard - about an inch larger than the base of the box
glitter
and anything else you so desire!
begin by covering the box with the papers.
secure the flower frog to the center of the box top. add trim to cover the corners.
cut out your Jesus, or other image that you would like to have showcased.
i added some glitter to the little lamb He is holding
and covered the back with ledger paper.
*also, i cut and covered a cross with patterned paper and hymn sheets and stitched around the outside of the cross to add texture...but these photos are m.i.a.
attach the base of the box to the mat board. i added some scalloped hymn pages for extra pretty.
i love crinkly crepe paper ruffles!
this is how i added them to the edge of the box. it works for me!
finally, embellish. add any extras that you love, and insert your Jesus, cross, and other images to the flower frog.
fill the box with shredded paper and hide a precious gift inside! finished! so much fun!
now.
day 18
thank you SO much for stopping by!
happy day to you!
