where we create...
hey everyone! welcome! i'm miss lynn and this is my daughter, beatrice.
we would love to show you around our creative space.
this room is our favorite place to be...we are drawn to this tiny little sunroom. i am here first thing in the morning and the last moments of my day. this is where my heart is home.
beatrice cannot stay away from her artist's desk. she will squeeze in as much free time as possible, drawing, writing, or painting. now. while this room may have been meant for mamma, there would be no keeping her out. as mother daughter, we have a few (slight) differences, but this we share: our need to create is as natural as our need to breathe.
here are our individual desks and work spaces. the windows are great for work and we love watching our boys play soccer, spying on all the neighborhood hub-bub, or laughing at the squirrels chasing each other around the trees!
i am obsessed with painted white furniture pieces, particularly those that are little and cute. these miniature sized dressers were most definitely coming home with me.
and speaking of obsessions...i've got big time issues with square jars. they are sooooo helpful as i am a visual kind of gal, and a rather right-brained disorganized one at that. i have bought probably hundreds of these jars, don't need another one, but if i see one at a garage sale or thrift store...i totally snatch it up.
i keep favorite photos and silly snippets under glass at my work space. happy.
close at hand, i have vintage books, supplies, and necessities stored away in crates and this nine drawer cubby that once upon a time housed tools in a barn. she was prettied up and given glass knobbies and a new life.
this photo shows more storage, as well as some pretty displays. you won't find much empty space here; clutter helps me create. : )
this cubby works great to keep my ribbon and trim stash organized-ish. the jars on top keep those pieces that are too short to wind around a spool.
dolly dresses on a clothesline...
postcards, a family photo, and another tiny doll dresser make me happy.
this white wicker changing table totally screamed storage space to me. i absolutely love it, and have filled up every square inch!
jars, jars, jars!
greetings from our kitty baby!
i try to keep my paper scraps organized by color. an old enamel bread box works great because it's a little longer than 12 inches...just right!
another tool caddy that has experienced a makeover.
yes. more jars!
a bicycle basket is a handy organizer when attached to the wall.
thank you for taking time to visit our little creative space today! we hope you are inspired and ready to create!
happy day, and thank you to karen valentine for hosting this great where bloggers create party!

Oh Miss Lynn! I don't know where to start! The darling bicycle basket -- I've been trying to think of a way to store my wallpaper and sheet music and there you are doing just that.
ReplyDeleteThe jars all nestled in the wicker table...
And those cute sets of drawers. Doll furniture?
What a good Mama you are. I did the same with my little girl and she is now studying art and film at NYU....and art is her passion.
ReplyDeleteLove all the square jars. I see them everywhere, and now I think I will look twice : }

You both look like you have lots of fun in your creative space. I see lots of goodies!

I just finished browsing through your creative space and I love all the ways you organize your supplies. What a great idea to use those square apothecary jars to store things. And I would love to have something like that blue cubby you have - I'm imagining what I could put in there. Nice to meet your darling daughter, Beatrice too!

Miss Lynn, You have the Greatest with a capital "G" display pieces....love, love, love 'em all! The glass jar collection also receives rave reviews! Having raised about six cats of my own through the years I had to laugh at the photo of yours sitting on your printer. Having all those wonderful windows with a view to the outside world has to be so fun. Enjoyed my visit! Xo, Sue
ReplyDeleteMiss Lynn, your studio is fabulous. While I don't do well in clutter myself, I certainly have had my share of it. Personally I love your room as it is. And those glass jar!!! PERFECTION! I love the way glass sparkles while showing off the treasures inside. I am envious (in a nice way) of the relationship you have with your daughter. I had only one son, who really wasn't in to art.. so you are a lucky woman. Thank you so much for sharing your heart and home.

ReplyDeleteI adore all of your storage solutions.
Lynn,
ReplyDeleteYour space is so special...full of light and sunshine...and that adorable daughter of yours is just radiant. You crack me up with the square jars! I collect any kind of jar I seem at a rummage sale but from now on, it is square jars...they are really so much more practical. There are so many cute things that you are using to organize that I just love, your bread box, your bicycle rack, the changing table...whew...who would have thought of that one.
Thanks for taking the time to share this...it is really charming.
Suz
This really is too funny - I don't know if you remember me, but we met downtown last summer when I was selling items with Chris (Embellishments) at the sidewalk sales.
ReplyDeleteI don't live that far from you and actually walk in your neighborhood often :) I have a kitty that looks like a longer haired version of your kitty and you know where she is? On my printer in my craft space!
Love your room! I wish I had a whole room to myself. Someday :)

Hi Miss Lynn; Oh, I just love your mother/daughter studio! How precious that you create art together. I miss doing that with my daughter, but... now I'm having fun with her 4 children, creating art and crafting away. I love the glass jars in the wicker table, what a great way to showcase the goodies.

How nice to have a mother/daughter studio space! You are creating great memories together. Love all your wonderful square glass pieces - great idea for storage. I'm going to haunt the yard sales and see if I can find a few for my button collection. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning,
ReplyDeleteI love your studio...your windows are fabulous. I especially like that your daughter will create by your side. My youngest liked to help me too, but now she is 21 years old and away at college. Give yours a hug from me!

ReplyDeleteI love your space, but the best part is that you and Beatrice share it, what better memory making time. I do love how you have used every inch of this place, how it screams your personality. All those jars, say candy to me, crafting candy. I like the square jars as well, but I think I own 1, (of course I think you own all the others)LOL. I truly do like your space, it is a happy place.

Well, we have two things... Well, three things in common. I just started collecting the glass jars and I love white painted furniture, however I like the distressed Shabby Chic white. The third would be that I am also a papercrafter and have been for over 10 years. What I am new at is blogging. I started a crafting blog 2 weeks ago! Yes, that new. I am loving it and am really looking forward to participating in things like this in the future. Thank you for sharing with me~ Sherry F.
ReplyDeleteI could have cried when I saw your space...I need 16 of the glass jars that you have everywhere. I have been looking everywhere for two years...junk and garage sales, second hand stores etc. I just cannot find them, and honestly, I am really jealous of you. What a beautiful space.
